Field Township’s Cemetery and Regular Board Meeting May 12, 2020

The May Field Township cemetery and regular board meeting was called to order by Chairman Keith Aho at 6:00 pm on May 12, 2020 at the Field Township Cemetery. The Board of Supervisors and cemetery caretaker Joel Knutson inspected the cemetery, followed by the road inspection.

The reconvened cemetery and regular board meeting was called to order at the Field Town Hall by Chairman Aho at 7:19 pm.
Present: Supervisors Aho, Chapman, Fulcher, Treasurer Ellie Brunner, Clerk Pat Chapman, Hospital Representative Mike Enzmann.

The approved minutes from the May 4, 2019 cemetery meeting were reviewed.
The approved cemetery financial statement for the fiscal year ending 2019 as reported at the 2020 Board of Audit is as follows:

  • Beg. Bal.:  ($4456.15)
  • Receipts:  $100.00
  • Transfers In:  $5000.00
  • Disbursements:  $6313.18
  • Ending Bal.:  $($5669.33)

At the 2019 Board of Audit $5000.00 was transferred into the Cemetery fund. Supervisor Fulcher made a motion to accept AWAIR.  Seconded by Supervisor Chapman. Motion carried unanimously.

The following report was given based on the cemetery inspection:

  • A motion was made by Supervisor Fulcher, seconded by Supervisor Chapman to have Joel Knutson bring the shed down by one block and possibly fix the trim above the church steeple. Motion carried unanimously.
  • Supervisor Fulcher made a motion to allow up to $400 for purchase of a new weed whip by Joel Knutson. Seconded by Supervisor Chapman. Motion carried unanimously.
  • Some of the church windows had fine line cracks. Some sod was disturbed by the snow plow. Chairman Aho will contact Jim Koskovich to repair a grave site and take out a lilac bush. Chairman Aho and Jeff Elliott will survey the cemetery. The clerk will notify the insurance company of the new mower serial number.
  • The cemetery rules were read and a motion made by Chairman Aho to approve them, seconded by Supervisor Fulcher. Motion carried unanimously.
  • Burial charges: Casket $400 Urn $75.

The following report was given based on the road review:

  • South Ridell needs 4 loads of gravel and the Neva Road 6. Supervisor Fulcher will contact Jared Sandburg.
  • There is a pothole on the Johnson Road and the sign needs straightened.
  • S. Ridell also needs a culvert. Supervisor Fulcher will check with the county about the culvert.

  • The Neva Road is maintained on demand.

The April 12, 2020 regular board minutes were read and stand as presented.

Motion made by Supervisor Chapman, seconded by Supervisor Fulcher to approve the treasurer’s report, net pay distribution report and authorize payment of claims. Motion carried unanimously.

Committee Reports:

Ambulance – Supervisor Chapman shared the March ambulance report .Due to COVID -19 the hall is closed and meetings are on hold. No runs in Field. There are 15 EMTs, 14 active. There are 7 First Responders, 6 active.
Fire – No report.
Hospital – Hospital Representative Mike Enzmann reported grants received related to COVID-19 exceeds $4 million to be used for payroll, utilities and supplies. COVID-19 test device is needed. A Director of Nursing for the Care Center has been hired and will start in July.
Joint Powers – No report.
Planning and Zoning – No report
Hall – At the June meeting the electric bills and furnace will be discussed.

Old Business:

Clerk Chapman reported a zoom meeting will be scheduled later this month with Whitney Ridion, Steve Howard (Paul Bunyan), Elizabeth Chapman and herself to discuss broadband.

New Business:

None.

The clerk announced the next regular board meeting will be June 9, 2020, 7 p.m., at the Field Town Hall.

Supervisor Chapman made a motion to adjourn at 8:20 p.m. Motion seconded by Supervisor Fulcher. Motion carried unanimously.
